There was a large but peaceful demonstration in Nyon on Saturday morning in protest against the recent announcement from Novartis that it is due to close its factory at its Nyon/Prangins site, with the resulting loss of over 320 jobs. An estimated 2,000 people including councillors, members of the municipality, Philip Jennings,General Secretary of UNI Globiunion (which has its world headquarters in Nyon), plus concerned Nyon and other local citizens came to show their solidarity for the campaign and Novartis staff . The crowd marched around through the town finally ending up at the chateau in the centre of Nyon. Pictures from Saturday’s protest below.
