This year the Château de Prangins celebrates 20 years as home to the Swiss National Museum in French-speaking Switzerland.
During that time it has welcomed more than a million visitors, held around fifty cultural history exhibitions, and launched innovative events – such as Rendez-vous au Jardin (Rendezvous in the garden – a Fête and Spring market) and Déjeuner sur l’herbe (Lunch on the Grass).
A weekend of celebrations on 29th and 30th September 2018.
To honour this milestone, the artist Muma ( who created a social sculpture in the historical kitchen garden back in 2008), will return on Saturday 29 September with 50,000 candles and a work entitled “Flowers of Fire”(from 18:00 to midnight). Some 500 volunteers will be taking part in a light performance that promises to be an unforgettable experience.
There also will be a party in the village of Prangins from midday onwards.
On Sunday 30 September, the tenth edition of Déjeuner sur l’herbe (Lunch on the Grass), will take place from 10:00 -17:00 in the grounds of the château with a historical costume parade in the afternoon. Photo below from a previous year’s parade. This is a fun family day out!
