Single Life in Nyon
Being more in the “mother hen” category rather than the “spring chicken” one, I am not too knowledgeable on what the social life is like for a single person in living in Nyon. However I do know there are bars and clubs that people go to meet, such as:
New (added 6th March 2009) New bar in old town in Grand Rue 22b with live rock music called La Parenthese .This place used to be called Chez Odette. Website still under construction.
Les Brasseurs a pub (micro brewery) in the centre of town that also serves food. Try their “flammenkueche” sort of a cross betwen a thin pizza and a quiche. Their hamburgers are good too. Popular with a young crowd at the weekend.
Differenciels (see my favourites, cafés and restaurants)
Quai 23 a bar near the lake that serves pasta and pizzas. (No website, this link is to the tourist board site with details)
The Fisherman’s Pub seems to attract the expats and the sports fans to watch matches on their widescreen TV.
Usine à Gaz is a club with live music almost every weekend from rock to reggae to rap.
“L’After” A Nightclub near the lake (I’ve never been, so can’t report back on this place)
There is also a social singles networking club called Glocals with its own website. This is for the whole of the Lake Geneva area. It was launched a while ago and seems to be successful as they organise lots of events and parties throughout the year with some events in Nyon.

Meet new friends while doing something active and seeing the great countryside.
In the summer, choose from evening or Sunday bike rides (great bikes are provided), weekend trips cycling around the lake, or hiking weekends.
Winter activities include snowshoe evenings and Sunday afternoons, as well as beginner ski lessons (alpine and cross-country), and the occasional ski or snowshoe weekend.
On these events, everything is organised for you, so you don't need to worry about where to go, what to book, what equipment to hire, or how to organise it all without being able to speak French!
