Can Nyon be like Sion? – Debate on the future of local shops and businesses. Second-hand English books for sale. Flute Festival in Nyon, British artists, composers and artists invited.
The annual debate Et maintenant/And now? organised by UNI Global Union will take place on Wednesday 5th October 2016 from 18.30 until 22.00. The theme this year is Global Economy, Local Economy and will focus on the challenges faced by local businesses to thrive, stay relevant and compete in the global economy and against the rise of online shopping.
Some of the speakers invited to this event include: Nicolas Servageon – Specialist in promotion of local businesses, Laurence Zaied, specialist in digital marketing and E-commerce, Alexander Benicchio, director of Manor Nyon, David Pernet, president of SIC (the society of shops and local businesses of Nyon) Daniel Rossellat, mayor of Nyon, Philip Jennings, Secretary General of UNI Global Union. There will also be a report on how Sion has managed to rejuvenate the centre of its own town centre.

Second-Hand English book sale in Nyon until Saturday 8th October
The volunteers of Nyon hospital are currently running a second hand book stall in the centre of La Combe shopping Centre. The stall will be present until the 8th October. It has a decent sized collection of English, French and German second hand books.
Flute Festival in Nyon and Gland – Thursday 6th -Sunday 9th October
La Côte Flute Festival will take place from the 6th-9th October at the château of Nyon, the Villa Thomas in Nyon and two different venues in Gland. Great Britain has been invited as a partner for the festival 2016 (in 2014 it was the Netherlands). British artists, composers and exhibitors will be coming for the four-day biennial Festival. Daytime and evening master classes, workshops and performances throughout the day and evening.
