Big Bazaar in Nyon – Books in English, Sports Gear, Toys and Games, Christmas Decorations and more.

Every two years, the IWCN (International Women’s Club of Nyon) holds a big bazaar in the centre of Nyon and the next one will be on Saturday 25th October from 10:00 -16:00. The proceeds of this bazaar go to both local and international charities. The bazaar itself is a great opportunity to buy second hand English books, both non-fiction and fiction.  There will be stalls galore at the bazaar selling home made baking and Christmas decorations,  second hand sports gear, toys and games, jewellery, accessories and more. There will be a brocante, tombola, a chance to have a cuppa or a bite to eat at the “Bistro” on the day. Bring the children too, it’s a fun family day out and entry is free!  If you have any questions about the bazaar, contact Kay Bond: bond.kay@gmail.com

Not only is this a good chance to support local charities, but a chance to meet some new faces too!

”The Little Foxes is a tale of cunning, greed and sibling rivalry set in Alabama in the early 1900s, but its tale of big business versus social responsibility has many parallels in today’s world”.

The Hubbards are a greedy and ambitious cotton-farming family who are forging a deal with a wealthy Northerner in order to build a cotton mill that will hugely increase their profits. The two brothers, Ben and Oscar, are prepared to use every means at their disposal to acquire the funds they desperately need to secure the deal.

Their sister, Regina, is determined to have a share in this dreamed-of prosperity by getting her dying husband, Horace, to release his money for the cotton mill. Horace, realizing the Hubbards’ plans for riches will further exploit the black and poor-white workers of the town, hopes to stop them. But Horace is ill and may not have much time left.

Tickets now on sale for English comedy “God Of Carnage”

“God of Carnage,” the next GEDS production in English is being billed as ” A comedy of manners.. without the manners!” This Tony Award best play will be performed on 5- 9 March at the Théâtre de l’Espérance in Geneva and tickets are now on sale.  For booking details click here

Synopsis of Play below (in English and French)

God of Carnage

Two sets of parents meet for a civilized, grown-up discussion about the outcome of their two boys having a playground fight and the result is a very funny black comedy which not only entertains, but sets us thinking about the veneer of good manners which society sets upon us all.

Charles Slovenski has assembled the following talented cast to bring this modern hit vividly to life: Robert Bartram, Chaitan Jain, Viki Lazar, and Cécile Van de Voorde.

First night patrons may enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbles in the company of the cast and crew.
